Gender Affirming
Letters of Support
Sacramento and online in California
Andy Price, LMFT provides assessments and letters of support for people seeking access to gender-affirming medical care.
Andy provides services in person in Sacramento and online throughout California.
I can provide letters with a single assessment session, with no requirement for ongoing therapy. I provide letters at a sliding scale rate of $75-$180 (based on financial needs), which covers both the assessment session and my time spent writing the letter.
During the assessment session, I will go over the information I am required to include in the letter, helping you feel empowered and informed about what information is included in the letter. My role is not to determine your gender identity. My role is to document your gender history, support system, and readiness for surgery.
I practice a gender-affirming approach, in line with the current World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Please let me know if your surgeon or insurance company has any specific requirements.
I have years of experience working with transgender clients and have received extensive training in gender-affirming care from the Gender Health Center in Sacramento. I also have lived experience with medical transition.
I am only able to provide letters of support to residents of California who are physically located in California at the time of our appointment.
FAQs
-
I recommend finding a surgeon before scheduling a letter assessment. Letters are only valid for one year and some surgeons have specific requirements, so it is best to have selected a surgeon (and obtained a referral, if applicable) before scheduling your letter assessment.
-
I practice based on the World Professional Organization for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines for mental health letters of support. This includes collecting the history around your gender identity, prior steps you have taken in your transition journey, experiences with gender dysphoria, substance use, any mental health diagnoses, and your support system.

I provide letters for teens and youth when appropriate based on World Professional Organization for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines for mental health letters of support. My role is not to determine your child’s gender identity or to dictate what steps your child will take. Rather, my job is to document their gender history and identify what forms of support your child has in this process.
